The Manayunk Development Corporation and the Manayunk Special Services District are proud to share that the Manayunk Welcome Center is officially open to the public. We encourage all residents and visitors to swing by and appreciate the work that’s been put into creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for everyone here in Manayunk.
We all want this exciting new space to be a resource for the community. A place people can stop in to ask about local events, community resources, recreation, restaurants, retail stores, and other businesses. We have a community pinboard for people to come and display promotions. Georgie Gould, President of The Roxborough Manayunk Wissahickon Historical Society provided an insightful history wall of posters with vintage photos and key facts representing Manayunk’s rich history through multiple generations. There’s a great selection of Manayunk merch, such as clothing so you can rep the town with pride, drinkware for those long walks on the trails or that morning coffee, magnets and stickers to decorate, umbrellas and ponchos for those rainy days, as well as other fun items (some printed right here by Manayunk businesses!). We strongly encourage the community to come in to ask any questions – and voice their suggestions for improvement of the Welcome Center right at the front desk. This will help the space to grow and bend to the needs of the people we’re welcoming in.
We can be found on the ground floor of the brand new MDC headquarters. MDC moved from Main Street to this new location for a lot of reasons – but a major one was freeing up prime real estate for the potential entrepreneurs trying to get their footing in Manayunk. Our new location at 106 Grape Street is about as close to Main Street as you can get, leaving us just as accessible as we were before. The Welcome Center is open seven days a week from 10am to 6pm.
Whether you’re someone who just moved to Manayunk, have lived here your whole life, bought a house here, rent here, visit here- whatever the situation- we want to say Welcome. And our best way to do that first involves a visit to the Manayunk Welcome Center. Come in to chat, read about the history, shop for a gift for a friend or for yourself, and grab a free magazine to stay updated on everything happening in the neighborhood. Stay safe and we’ll see you soon!
