Main Street Milestone Award
Mary Dougherty, Nicole Miller Manayunk
In March 2019, Mary, private owner and operator of Nicole Miller Manayunk, celebrated 25 years of business on Main Street. Mary has worked with the Nicole Miller brand since 1983 and opened two of her own Philadelphia shops in the 90’s. Mary and her fashion-educated staff provide a customer experience you can’t find anywhere else, with styling advice for all of life’s events — including graduations, formal events, first dates, job interviews, and more recently, weddings. It’s Mary’s passion for fashion that has led to Nicole Miller’s success throughout the years.
Lifetime Service Award
Bob Swarbrick, RJS Properties
Bob has invested in real estate and business development for over 30 years. He owns mixed-use buildings on the lower end of Main Street and has been a strong champion of the district. Bob is a founding member of the Manayunk Development Corporation and the Manayunk Special Services District, and currently serves on the Executive Board of Directors as Treasurer for the Manayunk Special Services District.
District Visionary Award
Pat Breslin, River City Outpost
If you’ve ever walked by River City Outpost on a sunny day, you’ll likely run into Pat on the stoop of River City Outpost, his marketplace full of fresh and local products. While his long-time passion has been food, Pat is also dedicated to ensuring Manayunk’s pocket park, Canal View Park, is always ready for visitors. He was a key figure in the success of last summer’s Stroll the Street and serves on the Board of Directors for the Manayunk Development Corporation.
Lifetime Dedication Award
Anne Gallagher, Canteen Works
Anne is no stranger to Main Street. In fact, she owned a bakery called Mainly Desserts on the corner of Main and Rector Streets for two decades. Recently, she made her return to the neighborhood as the manager of Canteen Works. Anne has carefully created the cafe’s menu, which includes her famous carrot tomato bisque and homemade Caesar dressing. Manayunk is happy to have her back!
Community Spirit Award
Anna Barron (USPS) and Mike Pewor (UPS)
If it weren’t for the hard work and heavy lifting by Anna and Mike, many of Manayunk’s businesses wouldn’t be where they are today. Anna has delivered mail to Manayunk for nearly 20 years while Mike has been delivering packages to Main Street since 1995. On behalf of all of Manayunk, we’re happy to award Anna and Mike the Community Spirit Award for their years of excellent customer service to our district!
